    I have just started reading the book but I am finding the story is well written. I know some of how Munro was awarded the Medal of Honor, but to hear his entire story of his life brings his heroism more into focus.

    This is an excellent account of a real hero--the only recipient of the Medal of Honor in the history of the Coast Guard. He died doing what the USCG does--saving lives.

    I strongly recommend this biography of Douglas Munro--good reading for regulars as well auxiliarists!
